Project 2024

There’s a lot coming up in 2024. To give you an overview of what is on the agenda, where we might need your help and who you can contact if you are interested, all projects and events are listed and described in detail below. Generally speaking, there will be individual emails for all these events and projects. To make sure you don’t miss them, sign up for our e-mail distribution list! You can also drop by the student council office (48-464) at any time and chat to us.

Introductory weeks SS24 and WS24/25

Hopefully you still have fond memories of your E-weeks. We are convinced that our E-Weeks make it much easier to start your studies and our experience confirms this hypothesis. To ensure that the next years students can continue to experience such extensive E-Wochen as you did, we need new people to organise new (or old) events and help with setting up, dismantling or running events. If you have a cool idea or simply want to get involved with others, please contact ewoche@fsin.fo.

Foyer party SeO SS24

As before Corona and also in 2023, we organise the Semester Opening Party (SeO) in the foyer of building 46 at the beginning of the summer semester on april 25. Fortunately, we have already found two people for the main organisation, but such a party is a very big organisational effort and it would be very good if we could find more people who would like to organise a big party. The tasks include managing a team of around 40 people, coordinating various service providers such as security, medical services, music and event technology, managing the money and communicating with the university. Of course, you should enjoy organising and planning events. A little creativity wouldn’t go amiss either. If you are interested, please contact feteorga@fsin.fo.

52.0 Conference of the computer science student councils

The Konferenz der Informatikfachschaften (KIF for short) is the national conference of the German-speaking computer science student councils, which takes place every semester at different universities over 5 days. Next year from may 8 to 12, the KIF will take place in Kaiserslautern. The five-day conference for around 250 highly committed students requires a great deal of planning, which began in spring 2023 and has been running at full speed since the end of 2023.

The main organisers currently consist of four people: Marvin Ballat, Pascal Göbel, Natalia Syrnicka and Lina Slany. In addition, there are eight teams of two to three people for individual topics such as breakfast, lunch, room planning, etc. So the preparation alone requires a large number of people. During the conference, we will need significantly more helpers for services such as travelling to and from the conference, breakfast, lunch, etc. We will come back to you in good time for these services, but if you are already interested or have any questions, please contact kif@fsin.fo. If you would like to get involved in the planning in advance, we would of course also be very happy to hear from you.

Reaccreditation

In Rhineland-Palatinate, study programmes are generally (re)accredited every 8 years. Accreditation is a quality assurance measure that checks the quality and studyability of study programmes. The reaccreditation of the Computer Science degree programmes (Computer Science B.Sc./M.Sc.) is currently being prepared, but the inspection by a group of experts will not take place until spring/mid-2025. So far, problems in the current degree programmes (e.g. appropriate ECTS crediting for modules or the high number/density of examinations in the Master’s programme) have been collected and the next step is to find solutions to the problems identified. If you have any ideas or would simply like to give us your opinion, please get in touch! The more opinions we know, the better we can represent the entire student body.
